In June 2004, on the first anniversary of the death of Robin Tavistock, The Tavistock Trust for Aphasia invited organisations from across the United Kingdom, who work in the field of aphasia to a Symposium held in Woburn. The focus of the first symposium was on how to raise the general public’s awareness of aphasia. It was chaired by Harry Cayton OBE.
The main positive outcome to this meeting was that it led an alliance being formed. The Aphasia Alliance was officially launched 31st March 2006 at Connect in London.
The Alliance continue to work together to plan and execute a campaign to raise awareness of aphasia.
