The Tavistock Trust For Aphasia

SMALL GRANTS

Two changes to our criteria for Small Grants towards Aphasia Software treatment programmes.

Since the Small Grants scheme was launched the Trust has given over £59,000 to individuals, groups and carers in the UK. The purpose of these grants is to improve the quality of life for those with aphasia and their carers. To date we have given a variety of grants that have ranged from £80 to our maximum per month of £1,000.

We are receiving more requests for small grants for aphasia software programmes than we are able to fund. In order to enable as many as possible to benefit from these small grants, we are now asking for each applicant to make a contribution if at all possible. We understand that this may not be possible for everyone, but the more each person can contribute, the more people we can help.

Before applying to us for aphasia software treatment programmes, please take a look at the Aphasia Software Finder website www.aphasiasoftwarefinder.org. The aim of this website is to help people to find useful information, on one website, about all English speaking software programmes that aim to help improve communication for people with aphasia. We hope this website will help all concerned make informed choices.

In order to focus our resources on aphasia centred grants, except under exceptional circumstances, we no longer give grants to buy computers.
